Teen, 15, Hit By Car on Lysle Blvd.

An unidentified teen-ager is in critical condition after being struck by a car Tuesday night on Lysle Boulevard, Downtown.

Allegheny County police said the victim was attempting to cross the boulevard near the Coursin Street intersection in front of a Pittsburgh Regional Transit bus when he was struck by a car traveling in the left lane.

The accident happened just before 7 p.m., police said. The driver of the car remained at the scene and was questioned by police. The victim, 15, was taken to the hospital by ambulance, emergency personnel said.

The Allegheny County homicide and collision reconstruction team is investigating, police said. Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call the County Police tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.

 

Police: Tip Led to ID of Duquesne Bar Shooter

An anonymous call to a police tip line led to the arrest of a Duquesne man in connection with a fatal shooting in a local bar on Friday night.

Marvin P. Harpool, 51, is being held in the Allegheny County Jail without bond pending a preliminary hearing June 27 after Allegheny County police charged him with shooting to death Tywone McClain, 26, of Duquesne inside a club in the 700 block of Grant Avenue.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Allegheny County night court, just after 11:30 p.m. Friday, McClain was arguing with another bar patron when a man identified by police as Harpool allegedly intervened.

Penn Hills Man Dead in E. McK Shooting

A Penn Hills man died after being shot in East McKeesport, Allegheny County police said.

Keith Pelmon III, 20, was pronounced dead early this morning at the scene, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office said. His death has been ruled a homicide.

County police said that 9-1-1 dispatchers received a call just before 12 midnight that there had been a multiple vehicle accident in the 500 block of Pittsburgh Street near Park Avenue.

First responders found a vehicle had crashed into parked vehicles at Pittsburgh Street and Walnut Alley, police said. Inside the vehicle, officers discovered an adult male with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Man Found Dead Near Route 48

A 12th Ward man who was reported missing Wednesday evening was found dead a short time later behind his home, Allegheny County police said.

Jeffrey McKenzie, 60, was pronounced dead at the scene off of Route 48, the Allegheny County medical examiner’s office said.

Police said McKenzie was reported missing at about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday. McKeesport and Versailles Borough police responded and conducted a search.

McKenzie was found in a creek near the 400 block of Long Run Road, Allegheny County police said. Allegheny County homicide detectives are investigating.

Jim Madalinsky, county police spokesman, said the cause and manner of McKenzie’s death are pending completion of the medical examiner’s report. 

“There were no obvious signs of trauma and right now it is not considered suspicious,” he said.

One Hurt in Shooting, Circumstances Unclear

Allegheny County police are investigating a shooting that wounded a man early Monday morning.

Police said although the victim was found near the intersection of Coursin Street and Fifth Avenue, Downtown, a preliminary investigation indicates the incident may have happened at another location.

In a release, the county police Homicide Unit said McKeesport police were notified of a possible shooting at 5:19 a.m. and responded to find the victim, whose name was not released, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition, police said.

One Hurt in Shooting Near Hospital

An unindentified man was in critical condition Tuesday morning following a shooting outside of UPMC McKeesport hospital, Allegheny County police said.

Detectives said the incident occurred after the victim attempted to force his way into a car in the parking lot and that there was no danger to the general public.

The emergency room was closed temporarily following the incident and a clinic inside the hospital was closed after sustaining damage, a UPMC spokesperson said.

In a prepared release, county police said the incident began just after 3 a.m. when the shooting victim attempted to force his way into someone’s car outside of the hospital.

A city man injured March 8 during an arrest by McKeesport police was trying to hit another man with a brick, a criminal complaint alleges.

Callie Stinson Sr., 72, is charged by McKeesport police with two counts of simple assault and one count of resisting arrest in connection with the incident. He faces a preliminary hearing April 28 before Magisterial District Justice Eugene Riazzi.

Stinson’s family has alleged that police used excessive force in arresting Stinson, causing broken ribs and contusions on his face and neck. Stinson has a tracheotomy tube to assist his breathing, they said. A video of Stinson’s arrest, recorded by a bystander, was widely shared on social media last month.

Police: City Man’s Death Was Homicide

A fatal shooting on Abraham Street in the city has been ruled a homicide.

Kurtis Shaw, 37, died Saturday night at UPMC McKeesport Hospital of gunshot wounds to the head and neck, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office said.

In a press release, Allegheny County police said emergency personnel were notified of a shooting inside a house in the 1700 block of Abraham Street just before 10 p.m. and found Shaw suffering from his wounds. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead about an hour later, county officials said.

Two Charged in Vehicle Thefts, One at Large

Two men have been charged in connection with a series of thefts from vehicles parked at White Oak Park, and one of them remains at large.

Police described the suspects as part of an interstate crime ring that stole credit and debit cards from vehicles, then used them to purchase items fraudulently.

Matias Montes-Vega, 26, of Miami, Florida is being held in the Allegheny County Jail without bond pending a preliminary hearing April 7 before Magisterial District Judge Thomas Miller Jr. in White Oak.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of an alleged accomplice, Angelo E. Nanculeo, 27, no address listed, who also is charged by Allegheny County Police.

Driver Charged in NV Twp. Hit-Run

A North Versailles Twp. man is being treated at AHN Forbes Hospital after being struck by a car Wednesday night near Walmart.

Allegheny County police said the driver of the car fled the scene of the accident and was arrested Thursday. Keontae J. Hamilton, 38, is charged by county police with leaving the scene of an accident involving death or personal injury, failing to stop and render assistance and failing to notify police.

He was arraigned Friday morning and remains free on his own recognizance pending a preliminary hearing April 8 in Pittsburgh Municipal Court.

Court records list addresses for Hamilton in the east end of Pittsburgh.
